ZOE COOPER
OF WALSALL SYNCHRONISED SWIMMING CLUB

At the age of 11, Zoe and her mum saw synchronised swimming on the television and thought how perfect it would be for her to combined all three sports she loved – Gymnastics, Swimming and Dancing! Luckily the local swimming pool had a club and she joined and trained for one hour a week on a Sunday. 

It wasn’t long before she got the bug and synchro became a huge part of her life. Her first national age groups came in the first year of the sport where she finished 102 out of 103. How thing have changed!  

After meeting Amy Baker (now coach at Walsall) on a regional training camp and joining Walsall Synchronised Swimming Club, a club re noun for producing Great Britain Swimmers! Zoe went from strength to strength. 

Two people had a great influence on Zoe’s career; Mrs Coyne and Zoe’s Grandpa who both believing she had the capabilities and talent to make it one day.   

Some of Zoe’s Achievements: 

Represented the Midland District Squad solo, duet and team from 1998-2003 and was team captain 2001-03.  

Selected to join the UK senior squad in 2006 and Great Britain 2007. 

She is medalling at Club, County, District, Inter-district, National and International level.  

Zoe is now branching out into other avenues within the sport

·        Judging at international level

·        Coaching at school, club and regional level.

 

This year alone: (2008) 

- Staffordshire Champion

- Warwickshire Open duet Champion

- Selected for 2012 squad top 9 at trials

- Scottish National Solo Champion, Duet Champion

- British Masters Solo Champion, Duet Runner Up

- Individual ranking of 7th in British Open Championships and 5th   Duet & invited to GB training camp (unfortunately couldn’t attend)

- Coached Regional Squad for 13/14’s alongside Amy Baker

- Coached Thomas Telford School team taking them to the National Schools Championships and gaining a 4th and 5th place in team and duet.
